Prof. Saliou TOURE

 

Long-time Minister of Higher Education under President Henri Konan Bédié,

Pr Saliou Touré was sworn in as President of the International University of Grand-Bassam (UIGB) on Friday May 18, 2007, at the Palais des Congrès of the Hôtel Ivoire, in the presence of President Laurent Gbagbo.

 

Professor Saliou Touré holds a doctorate in mathematics and has taught at numerous African, European and American universities. Since 1976, he has been Professor of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Abidjan. He has also been Director of the Institut de Recherches Mathématiques d'Abidjan (IRMA) since 1975, President of the Société Mathématique de Côte-d`Ivoire since 1977, Secretary General of the Union Mathématique Africaine since 1986, and Vice-President of the Union Panafricaine de la Science et de la Technologie since 1990. His field of research is harmonic analysis of Lie groups. Saliou Touré was for many years the Director of the Abidjan Mathematical Research Institute (IRMA) at the National University of Côte d'Ivoire, and Secretary-General of the African Mathematical Union.Dr. Saliou Toure is on the faculty of the University of Abidjan, Cote d' Ivoire (the Ivory Coast) Currently, Toure is Minister of Higher Education of Cote d' Ivoire. The French Academy awarded the 1994 Medal of Francophonie to Professor Saliou Touré, for the coordination of the Interafrican Mathematics Collection of schoolbooks for French-speaking countries in Africa.

Nael Barakat is currently the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University – Kingsville, USA. Dr. Barakat is a strategic leader, an effective manager, a passionate educator, and a dedicated professional, with a global network, who continues to be active in engineering education innovation, leadership, research, development, and engineering professional organizations. A professionally registered engineer, with an international background, and a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), member of both the American and European Societies of Engineering Educators (ASEE & SEFI), as well as the International Society of Engineering Pedagogy (IGIP), he continues to advocate for the engineering profession and its societal dimension, in a global context. Dr. Barakat is also a recognized mentor, who is capable of empowering colleagues and students with genuine enthusiasm and care, towards continuous growth and success. He provides a distinct leadership style characterized by consensus building and inclusiveness of diversity, where he acts as the catalyst to synthesize vision and strategy, as well as a motivator and supporter during implementation and assessment, resulting in mutually approved plans and operations, in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect. Prof. Javier Garcia Zubia

Javier García Zubía is an engineer in Computer Science and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Deusto.

He currently is professor with the Deusto University, where he teaches in Bilbao and Donostia.His teaching focuses on engineering degrees (Industrial Electronics, Industrial Technologies and Informatics). Specifically imparts Digital Electronics (Industrial Electronics Degree and Industrial Technologies) Programmable Logic (Industrial Electr. Degree) and Physics (Computer Science Degree).His publications deal mainly with Technology Enhanced Learning. In recent years he has been working in remote laboratories.It belongs to the research team DEUSTEK 2 , recognized by GV as type B.Other areas of research are programming in VHDL, and FPGA devices.
